If you are tired of the more built up resorts and fancy some interaction with the local populace Austria is ideal. Blessed with outstanding natural beauty and hospitable locals, Austria is literally awash with competitive ski packages.

Tirol region

Tirol region

The Tirol region is a perennial favourite for those in the know and whilst the most popular skiing area in the country it still retains alot of its original charm. You can explore the Lech, Zürs, or St. Anton areas and if you look carefully there are some competitive ski deals to be had online. These places have very reliable snowfall as well as extensive skiing paths and what you ultimately get for your money are cheap ski holidays in relatively untainted surroundings. The ski season lasts from December until April; however, the villages remain busy even during the summer. Walkers and climbers replace the skiers at this time, so it is business as usual for the villagers. If skiing isn’t really you visit the Alps during this time of the year and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

This looks like an awesome place to stay to explore the ginormous Alps. With summer and winter activites accompanied by the beautiful scenery, who could ask for anything more.

I tend to prefer these lesser inhabited areas, which, in my experience, offer more of the real Austria, unlike the more commonly visited areas. You also get to enjoy your time more privately away from the masses.

I haven’t been skiing in years and i’m hanging to find a good place to go. I agree with lazy boy something off the beaten track always offer you a more real experience. Great way to see the alps i guess at the end of the day. I hope i can find some more information about this.

Went to Austria 2 years ago. I fell in love with Vienna and Salzburg because of all the music. I hope they have the same thing around these snowy mountains as well because that would be really awesome :) I always prefer going to the less touristy areas because all you get are plus and plus. You have more space for yourself to do crazy stuffs without having to worry that anyone will be watching or you will hurt somebody and also the packages are always cheaper. This place definitely makes it to my list of ski places that I want to visit.

Oooh! I just got back from travelling around Austria during their summer. Was so beautiful – I’d love to go back. It would be so cool to visit in winter next time and go snow boarding too.
