Couldn’t agree more, I spent years staying in Hotels in this region on a half board basis whilst the lucky self caterers were taking there pick from the finest produce from the markets and delicatessens and I am now proud self caterer in whatever region I choose to holiday in. Don’t be sucked in by what looks like a cheap ski package with hotel thrown in, the Alps is ideal for self catering and I would never go back to the hotels again!
