Retail Therapy and the Alps

One does not generally associate the snowy peaks of the Alps with shopping but there are more than a few hidden gems to satisfy the retail addiction of even the most dedicated shopper. It is well known that the Alpine region incorporates parts of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy, what has this got to do with shopping you may think? Well give that two of the aforementioned countries namely France and Italy are generally regarded as the fashion centres of the world quite a bit. Prada, Chanel, Valentino and YSL are just four of the many household names to come out of these countries and to think they wouldn’t make their presence felt in the Alps is pure folly.

By their very nature these particular designers do put quite a hefty tag on their lines but it is possible to find a bargain or seasonal discount if you look hard enough. For those of you with budgets that do not quite match the Monte Carlo set there are also a plethora of options for you, just because the resorts are situated high in the sky you needn’t think for one minute that there is only a snowy and barren wasteland outside your chalet, there are number of different shops that stock almost anything you care to think of, from Champagne to skis to woollen socks, you really can find anything your heart desires. To summarise, if you have a taste for shopping and are of the opinion that the Alps have little to offer we would strongly urge you to think again!
