I shall definitely have to check out whether or not this is offered during the winter months, or if it’s perhaps too cold. Is there a a way to take a motorbike right to the top? Or as near as is possible. I see that the cyclists get up quite high during the tour but don’t know if there would be any oxygen problems with a normally aspirated bike. It just sound like a great thing to do given the total reliability of today’s trail bikes.

I took my BM all the way to the top without any problem. I slept where the fancy took me by just parking up next to a field and packing up early in the morning. Sleeping in that mountain air was wonderful and it meant I had complete freedom. Every three days I checked into a hotel to make sure I had a shower and a sleep in a comfy bed but apart from that it was all alfresco.
Visiting The Alps region is a great idea if you’re looking for a romantic break for two, especially at Christmastime. One thing’s for sure, the snow’s guaranteed as is the beautiful mountain air and gorgeous nature trails! Or if you fancy working off a traditional French or German Christmas lunch you can always hit the slopes, a sure fire way to work off those added seasonal calories.
